Paid Sick Leave - The Fight is On!

Thursday, June 06, 2019 9:49 AM | Anonymous

The bills which would have preempted those city ordinances for paid sick leave never made it onto the calendar. Unions are all over this and are out showing at the hearings by 3 to 1. We can’t let that happen in Houston.

See below from one of our San Antonio friends. Dallas passed as well as Austin. They ARE coming to Houston so we HAVE to be prepared to go down to City Hall if need be to fight this. This cannot work in the staffing business!

Message from San Antonio:

Paid Sick Leave is here in San Antonio…and the City says it's ready.

Here is the link to a current article in the Rivard Report regarding paid sick leave.

The current ordinance requires employers to provide one hour of earned sick time for every 30 hours worked, with a yearly cap of 48 hours for small employers and 64 hours for those with more than 15 employees. Businesses with more than five employees must comply by August 1, and those with fewer have until August 2021.

Let's prevent this from happening in Houston!
